Welcome to the convivial festival inauguration at cinema Royal and the premiere of the Norwegian film Lars är LOL. The premiere includes all things premiere – red carpet, film teams in attendance and festival snacks. Before the screening, we are visited by the exciting book project Det här glömmer jag aldrig. BUFF 2024, let’s go!

Det här glömmer jag aldrig – book reading 

In a book project initiated by author Marit Törnkvist, artist Kim Demåne, Helamalmö and Nydalaskolan, the young people of Malmö share their funny, sad, dramatic, weird and scary memories. Four youngsters who have participated in the project read their texts on experiences they’ll never forget.  

There is a stand in the Royal cinema’s foyer where you can flick through the book.

Amanda is chosen to be buddy to the new pupil in the class, Lars. Lars has Downs syndrome. She is irresolute but can’t manage to escape the task. When Amanda and Lars are on their own it appears that Lars is a lot of fun to hang out with. But what will the boy in her class with whom she’s in love with think about her being friends with Lars? And the girls who post video clips of Lars on their blog? A film about peer pressure, bullying, friendship and fitting in.
