It’s the second year that BUFF can be entitled as a film distributor and now has three new films available for the white screen. All were shown at BUFF 2018 and made a great success.
Some films are so good that we want everyone to see them. Preferably at the cinema of course. This applies to all the films we show on BUFF but unfortunately, only a few of them make it to the Swedish cinemas. We are now changing this and can gladly announce that we have three new films in distribution: The Seen and Unseen, Spider Thieves and Ballad from Tibet.
The Seen and Unseen – Premiere 23/11 – 2018
A film about looking for comfort in your imagination when you’re faced with the death of a twin. The twins Tantri and Tantra, brother and sister, are about 10 years old and live in a village near a mountain in Indonesia. They play together constantly and know one another inside out. One day, the brother becomes sick and it’s revealed that he has a brain tumor. At night, the sister dreams herself away to another place where her brother is healthy and they can once again do everything together. A stunning piece of cinema about dealing with grief.
Spider Thieves – Premiere 25/1 – 2019
Three girls live in poverty in a slum area of Santiago. They dream about the cool and fashionable stuff they see on TV and in the city’s shopping centers. When they start to break into apartments by climbing up the sides of buildings, they soon become known as “The Spider Thieves”. A gripping adolescent thriller inspired by real-life events, which brings to life the issues of social injustice, dreams and class.
The film is based on a true story and won The Young Film Awards prize for the best youth film.
Ballad from Tibet – Premiere 8/2 – 2019
Everyone has dreams and hopes that one day they will come true. Thupten is 10 years old and attends a school for blind children in Tibet. Unlike his classmates, he can see with one eye – and they want him to help them travel all the way to Shanghai so that they can compete in the Chinese equivalent of ‘Idol’. It becomes an epic journey, full of hardship, which they will have a difficult time forgetting.
Keep an eye on the Swedish cinemas for screenings!
