Zozo is the depiction of a ten-year-old boy’s inner and outer journeys. From the civil war in Beirut, where he loses his entire family, to Sweden, where he has to learn to work in a new and complicated social environment. Despite the beautiful nature and peaceful streets, Sweden isn’t the paradise that Zozo has dreamed of. Zozo reminds us that there hides dramatic and personal journeys behind the refugee statistics, events that we can’t even begin to imagine. It is also a reminder that the world can seem very different when seen through a child’s eyes. Fantasy and reality go hand in hand, and dreams become a place to flee to avoid sorrow and troubles.
