Film in school day: Film for change and the power of storytelling

Our guest of honour is Nicolas Lunabba, whose debut novel Blir du ledsen om jag dör? has been praised for humanising young people who are pulled into violence and crime. We get to learn the conversation methodology ”Tala film – Tala Liv”.  We get to meet filmmakers whose films can spark conversation and inspire us to tell our own stories.  We get a crash course in filmmaking with your students.   Licensing and services – all you need to know to make film with your students  Annelie Medoc, ICT strategist at Lund’s municipality shares her best tips.    Documentary film and storytelling Lisa Nyed, Commissioning Editor Documentary Film at Film i Skåne, in conversation with filmmakers Niklas Gyberg Ivarsson (Jävla Pappa, 2023) and  samt Anders Skovbjerg Jepsen (En tyst berättelse, 2023).   Work in progress – Rosa Rugosa  Ludvig Rodman, Commissioning Editor Short Fiction Film at Film i Skåne interview the director Stella Rydholm Thal.  The way to finding a language – a conversation with Nicolas Lunabba Fatima Khayari from the Swedish Film Institute speaks with Nicolas about how literature and film gave him a language and opened doors into worlds far way from his own – maybe even a way out of a marginalised and vulnerable position. We shine a light on having no language and violence, and reflect upon how school, sport and culture can work as an antidote to a way into crime.  Workshop 13:00 – Panora 2 Workshop ”Tala Film – Tala Liv” Folkets Bio Filmpedagogerna Non-profit organisation Folkets Bio Filmpedagogerna has worked with film and media education for more than 20 years. Filmpedagogerna will present the interview methodology Tala film – Tala liv. The goal of the methodology is to capture the participants’ individual experiences. During this training session you get to participate in a conversation about film as well as get tips on what to think about when leading such a conversation yourself.

Work in progress 2024

A recurring item on the programme in which we get to see films that are still in production. Industry afternoon

Accreditation required Language: English Friday’s seminar programme at Spegeln cinema ends with short and exciting presentations. This year we do a deep-dive into scripts, new concepts and explore the future of Nordic children’s and youth film.   Northern Script With: Torbjörn Jansson, scriptwriter and mentor. Matilde Graf, participant Northern Scripts Northern Script is a creative event where budding scriptwriters aged 18 to 29 get help with developing their scripts. One mentor from each of the Nordic countries coaches the scriptwriters before choosing and inviting select participants to an exclusive workshop in Oulu, Finland. Meet Torbjörn Jansson, mentor for the Swedish and Norwegian participants in 2023, and Matilde Graf, the 2023 Swedish participant in Oulu.     Film i Sörmland’s scriptwriters’ residency With: Aland Mohammed, EliSophie Andrée & Daniel Lundquist. With a focus on children’s films, Film i Sörmland gives one scriptwriter the change to develop his or hers script together with playwright EliSophie Andrée. This year’s resident scriptwriter is Aland Mohammed. He has studied scriptwriting for film and TV at Dalarna University. His film Blattesvensk is a fast, crazy and wonderful youth comedy that fills a void within Swedish film. A future Swedish ”Superbad”.    The NoJse report With: Mariella Harpelunde Jensen Mariella Harpelunde Jensen, programme director at BUSTER Film Festival and chairperson of NoJse, presents and hosts a talk around Nordic Think Tank – a recurring event at BUSTER where professionals from the Nordic film industry exchange thoughts. The report from Nordic Think Tank is presented at the Berlinale, this year also at BUFF.    Spellbound With: Torbjörn Jansson   A film story is created jointly and in real time during a playful meeting between a young audience and established filmmakers. Torbjörn Jansson presents Trollbundet: a development concept with a magical children’s perspective, which premiered at Barnefilmfestivalen in Kristiansand, Norway, 2023. In the hot seat: Children’s and youth film commissioner Janne Vierth With: Janne Vierth, Malena Jansson What is the state of Swedish children’s and youth film? Where is it heading? Shouldn’t there be more and better films made for a young audience? We put the Swedish Film Institute’s film commissioner for children and young people against the wall and demand straight answers.
